We were given two possible directions. The bride liked wildflowers and they both ran.
We went to a sporting goods store and photographed soles of both women's and men's running shoes.
We liked the idea of tying the card shut much like a shoe but with more elegance. We printed dots where we needed to punch the holes which we did by hand (180 cards * 8 holes each = 1,440 holes individually punched).
Actually in all of this the hardest part was lacing the ribbon so it didn't twist and then tying the bow.
The opening piece has lots of shoe prints and when you open it up the pairs of shoes are facing each other. We thought it would have been great if they wore their running shoes.
The whole piece includes lots of references to running issues.
